Product Overview

Transformer performance depends on the interaction of the magnetic core, winding geometry, insulation system, cooling circuit, tank structure and protection package. Our engineering workflow treats those elements as one system. This helps control losses and temperature rise while maintaining dielectric clearances, mechanical strength and practical access for inspection.

Before quotation, the engineering team reviews rated power, primary and secondary voltage, frequency, vector group, impedance, tapping range, altitude, maximum ambient temperature, installation location and expected harmonics. Transport limits, terminal orientation, cable or bus connection and local grid practices are also confirmed so the supplied equipment fits the site rather than forcing late field changes.

Typical Technical Data

Typical rating range45–7500 kVA
Typical system voltageUp to 24 kV
Cooling arrangementAN / AF
Voltage regulationOff-circuit taps
Efficiency approachDesigned to applicable efficiency class
Typical applicationsCommercial buildings, process plants, utilities and controlled indoor rooms

Important: guaranteed values, tolerances and test scope are defined in the final data sheet and contract. Ratings may change with altitude, enclosure, cooling mode, harmonic content or unusual duty.

Key Design Features

  • Open-wound or vacuum-pressure impregnated winding options
  • Ventilated enclosure promotes predictable airflow
  • Low-voltage bus or cable termination choices
  • Optional forced-air fans for planned capacity increase

Core and winding design

Low-loss electrical steel is cut and assembled to maintain a stable magnetic path. Winding conductors, current density, axial ducts and radial supports are selected through electromagnetic and thermal calculation. The clamping system is designed to retain geometry during transport and to withstand the mechanical forces associated with specified short-circuit duty.

Insulation and thermal management

Insulation materials are selected for compatible thermal class and long-term dielectric performance. Cooling surfaces and airflow or oil-flow paths are arranged to avoid local hot spots. Temperature sensors, controllers and alarms can be integrated so operators can distinguish normal load response from an abnormal cooling condition.

Transformer manufacturing and inspection
Manufacturing checkpoints and factory tests create traceable evidence before shipment.

Manufacturing and Quality Control

  1. Specification review: the approved technical schedule is converted into controlled design inputs.
  2. Material verification: core steel, conductor, insulation and major accessories are checked before use.
  3. Process inspection: coil dimensions, clamping, lead routing, clearances, drying and sealing are recorded.
  4. Final assembly: accessories are installed against drawings and connection diagrams.
  5. Testing: routine tests and any specified type or special tests are completed with identifiable records.

Testing and Documentation

A typical test program includes winding resistance, voltage ratio and phase displacement, insulation resistance, no-load loss and current, load loss and impedance voltage, applied-voltage withstand and induced-voltage withstand. Depending on rating and contract, temperature-rise, lightning-impulse, partial-discharge, sound-level, zero-sequence impedance or short-circuit withstand evidence may also be required.

The document package can include a general arrangement drawing, nameplate drawing, terminal plan, schematic diagrams, accessory manuals, routine test report, packing list and recommended maintenance schedule. Document language and digital file format should be agreed at the beginning of the project.

Transformer condition monitoring
Optional monitoring interfaces support temperature, cooling and condition-based maintenance strategies.

Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance

On receipt, inspect the package for impact, moisture ingress and accessory damage. Confirm storage requirements if installation is delayed. Site work should follow the approved lifting points, torque values, oil or insulation handling procedure, grounding plan and clearance rules. Before energization, verify ratio, winding resistance, insulation condition, protection settings, cooling direction, alarm contacts and phase connections.

Routine maintenance should be based on duty and environment. Useful checks include temperature trends, load current, leaks or contamination, fan and pump operation, connection condition, audible changes, thermography and the applicable insulation or oil tests. Records should be trended over time because a change from the unit's own baseline can be more meaningful than a single isolated value.

Information Required for a Proposal

  • Rated power, voltage ratio, frequency, phase and vector group
  • Impedance and tapping requirements, including OLTC control if applicable
  • Installation environment, altitude, ambient range and enclosure expectations
  • Load profile, motor starting, harmonics, renewable converter or rectifier duty
  • Applicable standard, efficiency target, loss capitalization and test scope
  • Transport limits, terminal arrangement, accessories and documentation language

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the rating and voltage be customized?

Yes. Transformer design is project-specific within the practical limits of insulation, transport, manufacturing and the selected standard. Share a single-line diagram and technical specification for confirmation.

How is delivery time determined?

Lead time depends on engineering approval, material availability, accessory selection, test scope and logistics. A realistic schedule identifies drawing approval and witness-test milestones instead of quoting production time alone.

Can remote technical support be provided?

Remote document review and commissioning support can be arranged. Site activities must still be carried out by qualified personnel under the owner's safety procedures and local regulations.
